ARCS Chairman Haydn Jones said: When we established the society last year, we planned two major events: a competition to encourage new writing, plus the grave restoration. Next year we hope to install a commemorative plaque on the wall of Bank House, where Allen Raine lived for the first 36 years of her life -  all to ensure that Allen Raine's literary achievements are remembered and remain fresh in the minds of local people and visitors alike.

  Thanks to the generous and ongoing support we have received, we have managed to restore the grave, while the short story competition entries have more than doubled - an encouraging sign of increased interest in Allen Raine and evidence of her continuing capacity to inspire creative work.
